Shortning of "wa's gwanin?", which in itself is short for "what is going on?". Rastafarian in origin.

General greeting or used in any place where "what's going on?" is appropriate"

Gwan-Going. Gwannin-Going on. Often used when asking the question of how someone is feeling or what have they been doing.
"What's gwannin?" is another way of saying "What's going on?"
