The place the dark land of Mordor was based on. With it's grey sky and freezing cold weather, and abundance of college students being a Wes. It's people just pray it's not going to snow in June which it always does.
The capital of New York State is Albany

The number ONE party place to chill, where 16 years old go to Paulies and the Post, while any legal drinker heads to WT's for their awesomely amazing wings and 85 cent beers at happy hour. Quite the college town where cabs are 3 bucks a head, girls wear tank tops and flipflops in the middle of the dead winter, you can buy pizza at 4AM, chalk your id and expect the bouncer to not only let you in but complement the fine art. Every other person who goes to Albany is either from NYC and LI and don't understand the difference between Upstate and Western NY, wear abercrombie and hollister with their tims. You wonder why people play in the water on fountain day when you obviously see snow on the ground, can't remember why you came here, except for the fact that you couldn't make Cornell or NYU and wanted to save money. Actually, you had no choice, but you read enough about the school in Princeton Review. The public bus makes its own schedule when you need it on weekends, and your car stays in its parking spot until the snow starts to melt in april. You envy those who live in the mustard complex with their heat and free laundry, but your lottery number is well over a 1000 so you head downtown, where you can never sleep, occasionally have your car towed or hit by another driver, and take advantage of the location by becoming a local at cagneys, chubby's, sadies, or stonecrow. You don't understand "downtown" past Quail street until you become 21 and venture off to Lark and S. Pearl. Ahh, this is ALBANY for you.
I've got 8 dollars and need to get smashed, that's cover cab, cover, and drinks in Albany!

Albany-Metro is deff not a hick-ish farmland. Filled with gangsters who might shoot you and snobby rich kids who drive around sick cars, vacation at the hamptons or luxury ski resorts, and count their cash. Surrounded by suburbs where everyone drinks, smokes, and parties because there is nothing else to do. Everyone and their brother is Italian. Alotttt of college kids: UAlbany, Union, RPI, etc.
Pretty sweet location with the city like 2 hours away, new england across the hudson, and montreal just up north.
So yeah, check out the 518.
Albany, New York is maddd sweet.

A town in southwest Georgia that was chartered in 1838 in which the founder chose the name of Albany because of its similarity to Albany, New York, which is another main city at the head of a navigable river. In 1988 Albany, GA made national headlines as the "Murder Capital of America," with the highest murder rate per capita in the United States. No shit. In 2000 this city with a population of 76,939 citizens was officially the "Blackest City in America" with African Americans occupying 64.8% of the entire population living within the city limits. That's right, not Compton not Harlem not even Atlanta is dirtier than Albany, GA. Many rappers claim to be from what they call the "Dirty South," but really they have no idea what the real "Dirty South" is, or what it is like to live there. Everyone here is racist, and I mean everyone; black, white, hispanic, whatever. The city's government is comprised of both main races, but most of the political decisions are based on racial issues.
<The armpit of the South. Very hot and humid weather year round. Many southern stereotypes live here like the well-to-do southern gentleman which is really just a spoiled kid who took over his father's business, and at the age of 30 still refers to his father as "daddy." Caucasians who have established themselves here live in the main golf course which actually holds debutant balls for girls who've just graduated from highschool. If you want a job in this town, you or your father had better know someone that has their own business. Otherwise your applications will be discarded for family members or friends who are usually under-qualified and lazy.>
1. Albany is a racist fucking town. Everybody hates anybody who is not a member of his/her race, and usually do their best to pass this trait to their children.
2. Why is there still nothing to do in Albany!?
3. Man, I hate paying the welfare for those damn blacks so they can just sit at home in Albany's projects all day and watch TV!
4. You're going to Monroe Highschool? Shit man, you're gonna be the only white person there. Hey, just lie about your address so you can go to Albany High with me.
Note: Both of the above mentioned highschools are public but have districts; where all who live within a certain district can only attend that district's public highschool or else they must pay for a private highschool.
5. Man fuck college. I'm gonna work for my daddy at his business in Albany.
6. Kids, lock your car doors when we cross the bridge into the east side of Albany.

Albany. The Capitol of the Empire State, New York. Albany is home to some of the most stalwart New Yorkers. Albany is the home of one of the most dysfunctional State governments in the United States yet has the most intelligent and resourceful citizens residing within the State. Albany continues to stand as the pivotal region in Upstate development despite the growing instances of douchebaggery from the minority of SUNY Albany students who still think it's cool to destroy their neighborhoods, their city, and the reputation of their State University.
"It's a miracle that New Yorker's still have pride in their Capitol even when assholes try to paint it as the greatest beer pong arena in the State."

"Man, I really wish Albany residents and students would stop getting such a bad reputation from derelicts that have no sense of history or respect."
