12. Requiem For a Dream
One of the few R-rated films I would not recommend viewing until you are actually of age... My God.... BUT amazing, nonetheless.
"Hey, man, I just watched Requiem For a Dream. Listen, have you seen my eye sockets? I can't find them anywhere... Oh, there's! - no, nevermind, that's just a chunk of my skull... Well, I guess I might as well pick that up too."
1. requiem for a dream
Amazing movie, probably the best of the century. Great editing, sequences, direction, acting, storyline and execution of the book.
Me: You seen Requiem for a dream?
Someone: No
Me: It's all about how your addictions can fuck you up, set in Brooklyn.

3. requiem for a dream
an amazing movie by darren aronofsky.
instead of wasting class time for kids with D.A.R.E., just show them this movie.
it may permanently traumatize them, but they sure as hell won't be doing drugs any time soon.

also, which most people seem to neglect, an amazing, sad, almost painfully beautifully written novel by hubert selby jr. which, you guessed it, the movie is based upon.
don't show 'requiem to a dream' to anyone tripping or suicidal.

but you should read the book, too.

6. Requiem For A Dream
Requiem For A Dream is quite possibly the most brilliant movie ever made. Based on the 1978 novel by Hubert Selby. I'm in no way belittling the book, as it was also wonderfully done, but this is the only movie I've ever seen that bested the novel before it.

The film depicts different forms of addiction, leading to the characters' imprisonment in a dream world of delusion and reckless desperation, which is then overtaken and devastated by reality.

Starring: Ellen Burstyn, Jared Leto, Jennifer Connelly, and Marlon Wayans. Burstyn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2000 for her role.
Go see Requiem For A Dream you degerates.
