Child support/ mother of child support

n. A system set up in North Carolina in which a father of a child pays money to the child support division and then goes to the mother of the child. The mother then uses the support money on herself such as steak houses and passion parties. A significant amount of these types have been found in western North Carolina particularly uneducated mothers that stopped working after the child was born. These mothers typically take advantage of the welfare system and have their families pay for their rent and bills, while the father pays child support which is non-reportable, the mother then demands more money or the father wont talk or see the child.

You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
