A Chinese telecommunications company founded in the 80's. In the past 5 years, it rose to grab huge market shares in Europe (3G network, Networking equipment, Optical Communication Equipment, etc). Its chief competitors include Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel, Cisco.

It hires mostly Chinese Masters or PhD's in Electrical Engineering, Communication Networks, and Computer Hardware. It's known for its demanding 20-hour work days, and its no-nonsense approach to business and competition.

It's currently the fastest growing telecommuncations company in the world, and has surpassed both Nortel and Alcatel-Lucent in market share in continental Europe and Asia.
While Nortel just filed for bankruptcy, Huawei reported record Q4 earnings for 2008.

Huawai is a microcosm of the hardworking attitude and the resultant success of China.
