Whilst in an arguement, to avoid the point (thus a cop-out) and to insult the person arguing. Often because the person who results to the insults has no logical/intelligent point, thus they break down to immaturity.

ad hominem (aka argumentum ad hominem) literally means ‘argument to the man’ is a logical fallacy in which a person instead of responding to another’s argument logically and precisely, attacks his/her character, qualities, background and may even question his/her intention.

Those who indulge in ad hominem can be immature, jaundiced, hypocritical, unintelligent or just plain angry.
Atheist: “Where was your God the Almighty when all kinds of disasters (man-made or otherwise) had befallen mankind? Why the hell do you worship Him when He cannot prevent these disasters from happening?”

Theist: “You are an infidel! What do you know of God? You do not even believe in or respect Him? Who gave you the right to question God who has been worshipped by legions for 1000s of years? ”

Atheist: “Your ad hominem response does not answer my questions. Might trying again?”

Originally from the Latin meaning - "argument to the man", "argument against the man".

Now meaning Argument against what a person has posted via the net and brought about by Psychological projection as to the person hidden behind the Computer Screen and On-line Identity.

Can also be seen as an idiotic lack of appreciation of Netiquette and also gross self absorption by the reader/responder.
"Dear @$£*&% I read your post and am shocked by the Ad Hominem way you respond to reasonable dialog in this forum.... etc etc."

An ad hominem refers to someone attacking a person verbally rather than attacking their argument. It literally means "argument against the man" and is the most common logical fallacy.
The most common logical fallacy used by atheist idiots.

Atheist: "You're a Christian! In my world-view, you're all dumb! Therefore what you said isn't true!"

Christian: "Even though I provided citations and reliable sources? Nice ad hominem you've got going there you atheist idiot."
