One of the biggest cities in New York but still the most boring. The kids hang out at Ridge Hill and Cross County, but there is nothing to do there. The teenagers all drink on McLean and in Woodlawn. It gets more ghetto by the day. The only part that isn't ghetto yet is Crestwood and the Yonkers part of Scarsdale, but the city is becoming wack. It is literally a shithole. South Yonkers is the most ghetto shit, and the Yonkers DMV is a whole different entity. The public schools are pretty shitty. YMA has roaches and Saunders had a clown come to the school. The kids try to act hard even though half of them come from middle to upper class families. Even though Yonkers is shitty, the kids from there are proud of where they come from.

wow matt moderate crime bad school theres nutihg like it. crime isnt moerate crime is heavy, and schools are horrible not bad. the board of education is laying off teahcers faster than ur moms getting layed a nihgt. not to mention, how u not gonna call i the north of the bronx wen bk is yonkers brtother and backyard. yonkers isnt a suburbia u dipshit, manhataan is less than 10 miles away. how u gonna say its 7/8 ghettomwhen all of the south is, and half of the north is. there is no mroe welath in yonkers, and if u had ne idea wut u were talking about u would no that. i grew up off a branch of mclean, and its not a rich section of the city its regarded as one of the most urbinzed areas of yonkers. get a life and stop righting derfintions to shit u dont even understand.

Yonkers is not just some "ghetto north of the Bronx" that people think. 7/8 of Yonkers is not ghetto. In the east side, the outer borough waste stops at the city line and segues into a diverse, small-city atmosphere similar to that of the Bronx or Brooklyn when they were in their prime before the 1970s. The most heterogenous place in Westchester, Yonkers is almost seen as its own county. It is home to great Italian restaurants like Ferrara's and Valentino's, a wealth of Irish culture on McLean Avenue, and of course, Stew Leonard's and the signature racetrack. Definitely not a city to write off as "Bronx North" or just another Westchester suburb.
Though often less than picturesque, and with bad schools and a bad reputation and moderate crime in the southwest, there's nothing quite like it.
