A subgenre of science fiction that nerds can never agree on the exact meaning of. A good guide line though is the two words in that portmanteau: "cyber" and "punk." Does the movie/book/show/comic/whatever in question have a heavy emphasis on technology? (As opposed to aliens, space exploration, time travel, etc.) Then it's got the "cyber." Depending on which nerd you ask, examples of cyberpunk include: "The Matrix," "Blade Runner," "The Terminator," "Total Recall," "Snow Crash," "Neuromancer," "Burning Chrome," "Hammerjack," "Altered Carbon," "Shadowrun," "Repo: The Genetic Opera," "Inception," "Ultraviolet," "Aeon Flux," "Tron," and probably tons of other classic examples this writer is forgetting.

A underrated genre of Science Fiction set in lawless sub culture of an opressive and dystopian society dominated by computer technology.
In a nutshell: high tech, low life. Usually taking place within a metropolis city overun by crime, corruption, street gangs, hackers, bandits, poverty, highly advanced computer technology, cybernetic (and mechanical) augmentations and overall, a very dangerous environment to live.

Cyberpunk is a game released in 2020 that was criticized at its launch for having too many bugs and glitches. To cyberpunk or cyberpunking means to release or finish something when it is not ready yet ready or does not yet achieve the standards that were promised or expected. It is usually accompanied by backlash and improvements after the fact.

When a gamer has been duped into purchasing or preordering a videogame based on a series of misleading marketing practices, advertisements, and press events aimed to build hype for a product. Ultimately with the end result of the game developers overpromising and underselling on an unfinished or incomplete videogame or videogame related product.
The term is derived from the slang punked which refers to a joke or trick played on someone, as well as a parody of the title for the 2020 videogame known as Cyberpunk 2077 which became notorious by its fanbase for pushing out an unfinished game onto the market.

My favourite franchise even though sadly people only think of 2077 when I mention it which genuinely piss's me off especially because I love 2077 (Although there is a lot of things I expect to be in it which wasn't. :() yet it makes people think the whole franchise is shit, let's just hope cdpr make on hell of a comeback soon.
