An Irish American who is glorified by the people of Ireland, even though many look down at Irish Americans showing extreme pride and interest in Ireland's history and culture.
If the Irish don't like Irish Americans having intense pride in their land, why is JFK's ancestral home a national monument?

American Tourist: "Hey I saw a sign for Andrew Jackson's cottage." US Tourist #2: "That name sounds familiar..."

I'm an American but I like hurling. It's pretty dirty. You fellas across the pond should check out lacrosse.

I reversed this term to point out some hypocrisy.

There's an Irish heritage regiment (with plastic paddys) in the US National Guard called the Fighting 69th; its motto: "Gentle when stroked, fierce when provoked." LOL at dirty connotations.

Once strictly used by people from Ireland to describe people from abroad who claim Irish ancestry, this term has been appropriated by Irish Americans who are tired of green beer, shamrocks in Guinness, and the "everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's Day" mentality. Plastic paddies can claim no Irish ancestry, have only a superficial knowledge of Irish and Irish-American history, and use St. Patrick's Day as an excuse to drink excessively. They genuinely believe that the Irish in America were lower than slaves, despite ample evidence to the contrary.
Only a plastic paddy would wear those stupid shamrock beads.

[Plastic Paddy]

The term refers to male individuals born outside of Ireland who claim Irish heritage and proudly display stereo typical clothing and accessories while speaking naïvely or ignorantly about Ireland.
After removing his wool sweater and tweed scaly cap, Plastic Paddy displayed his shamrock tattoo and claddagh ring as he proceeds to say, “I’m a 100% Irish, my grandmother is from county Kilarney.”
