G-Vegas is a nickname for Greenville, SC. The term started in the 90's as Greenville's urban and suburban growth began to skyrocket. It's a tongue-in-cheek term for the city due to it's newfound fame on various best cities in the US lists and its position as the largest metro area in SC (3rd largest in the Carolinas). Term made popular by local business like G-Vegas Volleyball and G-Vegas Nights Photography.
There's nothing happening in Augusta tonight... why don't we hit up G-Vegas for the weekend -- we can catch a Greenville Drive game, grab some sushi downtown and chill at Falls Park.

Gettysburg, PA. More specifically, Gettysburg College where the wild party scene has earned the school the nickname G-Vegas. While the origin of this nickname remains unknown, scholars maintain that it began somewhere in the late 1990's or early 2000's when the school's men's lacrosse program was becoming a national powerhouse. It was these lax bros, famous for both their dominance on the playing field and in the party scene, that it is believed came up with the nickname. Locations at Gettysburg College famous for bringing this nickname to prominence include TKE, Phi Delt Water Parties, lax parties at the Big Gay Mansion, ATO, and Mamma's.
While this site seems to define G-Vegas as some inbred hick town in the Carolina's, any true bro knows that the real G-Vegas is Gettysburg. If anyone from one from Greenville wants to dispute this, any Gettysburg student would gladly buy them and their entire city.

Name given to the Greenville uptown area city proper. The area has coffee shops, dining and plenty of eclectic fashion shops reminiscent of NYC's East Village back in the late 60's heyday.
After 9pm clubs in Uptown (which is called going to downtown) and all over the rest of Greenville start lighting up with events, music, live entertainment and Karaoke. A lot of this scene spills out onto the street just like in Vegas, however only the Gambling is missing.
If you've kept reading then here you will find the term has been out of use since 2007. In 2006 I coined the phrase "G'Ville" for this same area. Born and raised in the projects of NYC I noticed how many G's were here, and a lot of old G's (O.G's. original gangsters). If you know the Nicky Barne's story you know the surrounding area is where he and his family came from. Many soldiers and lieutenants of Nicky are left around in the Greenville (G'Ville) NC area, who will go unnamed here.
