The Raven

"Once a midnight dreary,
while I pondered, weak and weary,
over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore.
While I nodded, nearly napping,
suddenly, there came a tapping,
as of someone gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
'Tis some visitor,' I muttered. 'Tapping at my chamber door.
Only this, and nothing more.'" - The opening lines of The Raven

Can't really think of an example for the Martian Chronicles. Read it yourself.

Meteos

An immensely successful puzzle-genre video game for the Nintendo DS. It follows the style of Tetris very closely, except with an intriguing twist. Players line up horizontal or vertical lines of 3 or more of the same blocks, or Meteos, and the lined up Meteos turn into rockets and blast the Meteos on top of them into space. There are many different planets on which you can play on, each of which has a different gravity level and field width. The type of Meteos that appear in each vary as well.

The Main Story
The evil planet Meteos is attacking the inferior planets of the galaxy. Several are destroyed, and it seems that all hope is lost. However, when it comes time for the planet Geolyte's doom, despite of unfavorable odds, three Meteos of the same type line up just before they collide with the planet. It blasts back up into space, carrying with it the Meteos on top of it. A defense strategy was formed, and the surviving planets of Meteo's rampage fought back against the evil planet.

The Game Modes
Simple - Try to be the last one standing; destroy your opponent's home planet. You can play Time or Stock.
Deluge - Play until your planet is destroyed.
Star Trip - Choose from three paths: Straight, Branch, or Multi, and get all the different endings.

Fusion
All of the Meteos you launch (not the ones that are incinerated) go to your Fusion Bank. You can use the Meteos you earned to unlock new sounds, planets, weapons, and rare metals (time and soul Meteos).
Meteos is the best puzzle game. Ever. DON'T ARGUE WITH ME.
