Also referred to as stone femme, a high femme is a femme lesbian who doesn't want to penetrate her partner during sex or touch her partner's genitals. This doesn't necessarily mean she's adverse to pleasuring her partner in other ways, but she doesnt feel the desire or need to. Contrary to belief, high femme doesnt inherently mean extremely feminine, this is a myth spread by the futch scale which was started by reddit lesbians as a joke. A femme is a lesbian who subverts, conforms to and reclaims femininity for herself and other women exclusively. Contrary to popular beliefs, not all femmes are extremely feminine, wear makeup, have super long hair, etc. Femme is a lesbian exclusive term and the only requirement to be femme is to ba a lesbian and to subvert femininity for yourself and other women only!! Femmes arent useless, dainty and weak, we dont look straight and we dont do none of the work in a relationship!! Additionally, femmes dont have to date butches, femmes can date other femmes or non aligned lesbians! ♡

A stone butch is a butch (lesbian exclusive identity) who doesn't want to be penetrated during sex, have her genitals touched or have certain areas touched during sex or everyday life, ie: inner thighs. This identity is the counterpart to high femme or stone femme and its important to respect a stone butches' boundaries. Contrary to popular belief, stone butch doesnt inherently mean being extremely masculine, seeing as the futch scale, a meme created by reddit lesbians that was spread through the internet, can falsely depict. Stone lesbians are not cold, they're just as soft and loving as any other lesbian!! Respect stone butches! ♡

Futch and the futch scale were created online by reddit lesbians as a joke. However, the design was taken seriously and spread through the internet which spread misinformation about stone butch and high femme identities and made futch seem like a legit identifier when it's in actuality, a mockery of femme and butch history. Stone butch doesn't inherently mean hyper masculinity and high femme doesnt inherently mean hyper femininity. Stone identities refer to intimate boundaries some femmes and butches have during intercourse or in everyday life. Futch isnt a genuine identity because while femme and butch have history, culture and meaning beyond clothes and appearance, futch is simply a lazy combination of the two that disregards the history and culture behind those identifiers. It's totally valid to not be femme or butch, but futch was started as a joke and isnt a valid lesbian identifier. Non aligned lesbians are hella valid and so are chapstick lesbians!! Androgynous lesbians and lesbians who don't fit into femme or butch in general are great! But calling yourself futch is an insult to butch and femme culture. And if you're not a lesbian and you use lesbian identifiers, you're even more insulting to our culture, please educate yourself!! Bi and pan women have their own identifiers (stag, doe and tomcat) the futch scale is fun to use as a meme but at the end of the day, that's all it is, a joke.
