Infantry Fighting Vehicle, an armored vehicle designed primarily to fight enemy infantry and lighter vehicles. The average viewer tends to confuse these with tanks, or think everything on treads is a tank. Some even go as far as to play semantics to justify calling everything a tank, in the same vein someone would try to justify calling a magazine a clip. Those people need a good strangling.
