yidpalachian

a combination of "Yiddish" and "Appalachian", usually used to describe people who identity tied both to the Ashkenazi jews from eastern Europe and the people of the Appalachian mountains in the eastern United States.
My great-grandpa was saved from a pogrom by hiding in the woods in the Carpathians-- I've always wondered if that's why my Yidpalachian family likes living in wild wonderful West Virginia.
