Comedic-singer Allan Sherman's advice to Christopher Columbus was to embark on a "wrong-way Corrigan" seagoing-voyage to prove that the Earth was round. As everyone knows, however, ol' Chrissy "fell off the edge of the Earth" --- contrary to all of the other advice that "Wise Old Allan" gave various historical geniuses (Elisha Otis, A.G. Bell, Henry Ford, etc.) and which subsequently led them to great fame 'n' fortune, this particular idea of Allan's was a total wreckommendation. Let's cut "our good pal Al" some slack, though --- nobody's perfect. As Mr. Sherman himself states at the end of that same song, "everybody makes... occasional mistakes..."
