A light hearted way to say masturbation - Can be used to infer someone is masturbating when they leave for an unexplained absence.

I didn't pickup at the bar so I had to work the turk instead. Person 1: Where did he go?
Person 2: Probably working the turk.

To apply comic relief to an otherwise serious situation.
Also has sexual connotations (see "Tap the turkey")

George: "I swear if you do that again i'll kick you in the groin"

Innocent quick whitted bystander: "Work the the turkey" (childish voice)
