(Interjection) A contraction of "Well, sir." Used to express admiration or interest. Indiginous to Downeast Maine fishing communities. Can be used independently or as an introductory phrase.
1. After hearing the story about a confrontation in which the lobsterman punched out a tourist,the bartender politely replied, "Wellsa, you sure showed him who's boss."
2. In the shocked silence that followed the announcemnt, the only comment the expectant father could make was, "Wellsa!"
