telebureaucracy

The telephone interface to bureaucracy. It is tedious, repetitive, time-consuming, repetitive, and most often fruitless avenue to obtaining any kind of service.
A telebureaucracy typically consists of:

1. An automated system operated by keypad entries or infuriatingly poor voice recognition,

2. One or more operators trained to treat you like the stupidest person on earth, and

3. Specialists whose job it is to direct you to a different unit or organization at a different phone number or otherwise indicate your problem is unsolvable.
