(verb) To shelf park is to perform the practice of placing a space-consuming item (usually one that can be situated there for a justifiably significant amount of time such as a jug of milk or a box of beer) on a refrigerator shelf for the purpose of securing capacity for a potential future space-consuming food product to occupy.
A: Why is John's six pack still sitting in the refrigerator's bottom shelf corner?
B: He's probably shelf parking for the watermelon he's getting this week.
