schmword

Pieces of two or more words that have been schmushed together to form a single word representing the combined meaning of all orginal words.

Michael Scott seems to be a fan of schmwords like gaysian (a gay Asian),Jegaysian (a Jewish gay Asian), and blasian (someone with one black parent and one Asian parent). Please note, however, that a gaysian is NOT someone with one Asian parent and one gay parent.

Schmordegar

Schmordegar (noun)

Pronunciation: /ˈshmoɾ-deɡ-ɑr/
Plural: Schmordegars

1. A verbal challenge over a point of fact that can be quickly resolved by consulting a reliable information source.

2. An intense debate in which both parties are equally confident in the accuracy of their opposing claims, often involving a strong sense of competition and personal stakes.

3. (Figurative) The broader principle that facts matter and should be verified when making claims.

During dinner, the conversation turned into a Schmordegar when two of us argued over who won the Best Picture Oscar in 1982.

Carlos shrugged off the neighbor’s trivia about Led Zeppelin; since he didn’t care about it, it wasn’t a true Schmordegar.

It’s all fun and games until someone initiates a Schmordegar, then both sides gear up with Wikipedia searches and bold declarations.
