Someone that continuously feels the need to scan items in the store to see if there is a better online price. Someone that has to scan every QR code they come across because there is more information available online.
How many scannerds does it take to screw in a light bulb. One to compare prices, one to scan instruction manual. One to literally screw the light bulb.

Words you can keep

Mother Riley scanner attack

Used to describe a person who's head regularly explodes in anger whilst posting on a forum.
"Steve's just had another Mother Riley scanner attack. That can't be doing his blood pressure much good!"

Scanner Hound

Someone who lives vicariously through listening to police and/or fire scanners. Generally someone who has an uninteresting life of their own, or flat out nothing better to do. Some say it's a disease caused by people who only wish they could be a Firefighter, EMT, Paramedic, Sheriff's Deputy or Police Officer...we may never know! A few scanner hounds have taken to the extreme and created Facebook pages/Twitter Feeds to inform the public each time something happens on the scanner. Another extreme, scanner hounds that turn into Ambulance Chasers, so they can get a first hand glance at the 'action'.

If someone you know is suffering from being a Scanner Hound, simply slap them in the face and tell them to get a life!
That guy is a hard core scanner hound, he walks around with his scanner on, his phone, and iPad listening to 3 different stations at once!

Scanner Dan

Slightly neurotic, greasy, larger homeless man that frequents State Street on a regular basis, who also supports the UW Greek System and LOOOVES the GAmma Phi ladies. Must ride a bicycle with a police scanner attatched to his hip. Hence the name, Scanner.
Scanner Dan, also look for Piccolo Man in bright orange suit located outside the bookstore playing his piccolo. Also, look for Shim Saxophone player up near the capitol or outside Statesider playing Pink Panther till the weeeee hours of the morning.

Radio Scanner

a radio receiver that can quickly switch between two or more channels (today's scanners usally have more then 500 channels) and then stop when the frequency is active. Used by criminals and radio operators to listent to pretty much everything from the police officer asking his buddy to get him more doughnuts and your cordless phone.
"yeah man, i just got a hit on the scanner, the cops are after some black guy"

Police Scanner Perv

A citizen who listens intently to a police scanner all day and night so that he will know of all of the fires, murders, robberies, assaults, etc. that occur in his town. The PSP then gleefully informs his friends the next day of the gory details.

The PSP differs from the local policeman, fireman, or EMT with a scanner in that he has a pervy interest in listening to the scanner, not a professional interest.
Dispatcher on Scanner: We have a 10-59 on 25th and Maple; a house is burning, a trauma team and a fire control team are en route.

Police Scanner Perv: Ssh, honey. I am trying to hear the scanner. I think your mother's house may be on fire!

a scanner darkly

A book written by Philip K. Dick, that was later turned into an animated movie of the same name. Follows the story of a undercover drug detective who ends up getting hooked on the drugs he's fighting. His sacrifice, however, uncovers the terrible truth about an agency that provides drug addicts safe-houses to get off the drug. Fantastic book and great movie. The book is better though. The story was inspired by the 1970s drug culture that Dick participated in. It's dedicated to dozens of his friends that died or were crippled by drug use.
A scanner darkly is a freaky story, makes drugs sound very unappealing.

Back when I lived in upstate new york

A meaningless, unimpressive, self-serving introduction. An indicator that the story about to be shared will be pointless and dumb.
Back when I lived in upstate new york, I also had to park on the street - on two occasions, we got enough snow, mixed with just the right plowing, that my car was lifted off the ground from so much snow being jammed underneath it.

Sister: This meeting was to discuss the rough draft of my essay, where we discussed the subsidiary questions I added in my rough draft. We also discussed the relationship between my main title and the real-life situations I chose to use in my essay. We discussed the structure of my essay as well, specifically the Math AOK section and how it relates to the contradiction of the title. This second meeting was particularly helpful in discussing the implications of my essay claims and how to apply the title across various areas of knowledge. There were many sections of the essay that could have been cut down in wordiness and the ways of knowing required further and more in-depth analysis.
