When in a long anime or TV series the group that helped the MC in the beginning come back in a later arc, often with new and/or better powers.

Weeb 1: I love how the old characters came back to fight again, I always wanted to see the original crew fight again!
Weeb 2: They have new powers now!
Weeb 3: but how did the get those powers?
