The official endearing term for two girls over 40 who decide to give up on finding a decent man and become partners. Now...these girls are not lesbians. If two girls give up on men and become hubbins, they will have separate bedrooms, but will snuggle on occasion as well. Hubbins have an "open" relationship, meaning they are free to continue to sleep with men, whomever, and however many they so choose with zero obligation because they already have someone to go home to...their hubbin!

Hubbin
The equivalent (but mutual) term to "husband" in a gay male relationship, where, by definition, no "Wife" exists. This is independent of any Dominance or submissiveness in the relationship. Two men married to each other are each their partner's "Hubbin". Whereas the term "husband" implies the reciprocal "wife", a "hubbin" is married to another "hubbin". The plural "Hubbins" can refer to both partners in a gay marriage, or to all married men in same sex marriages.
"My hubbin and I retired to Chincoteague Island, to be near the wild ponies and rocket launches from NASA at nearby Wallops Island. I've been his hubbin for years now, and love our life together."

The term “Hubbin’ It” was coined during the Great Depression (1929-1939), and originally referred to a wagon getting stuck in the mud, down to the wheel’s axle, or “hub”. It later came to be expanded to mean any hard times.
