When a school district calls off school expecting a snow storm, when you don't even get a flake and are able to just take a day off.

Relative: So how was school yesterday?
Boy: I didn't have school, it was a faux snow day.

Pronounced FOday. Combination of Faux Friday. The Thursday before a Friday that you have off from work or school that feels like Friday to you.
