drowning the horse

Derived from the adage that "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink". To "drown the horse" means to attempt to force a person to want or accept something.
When feminists try to make girls interested in STEM fields, they're not helping any sort of gender disparity, they're just drowning the horse.
