Believed to have originated in some Harlem neighborhoods in NYC as an evolution of the term 'deadass' which is used in the same way.

The action of checking if a friend/roommate is still alive after not seeing them for an odd length of time.

Guy 1: Have you seen Bob lately?
Guy 2: You should probably call in a deadcheck.
Guy 1: Nah, maybe if he's not back by Monday- I think he went to Vegas.

Breadhead 

Someone who is addicted to obtaining money and building wealth. A money addict and fanatic. Breadheads often work more than one full-time job, and some even participate in illicit activities to "obtain the bread".

A breadhead is like a crackhead, but for money instead of crack.
