augurey

(Also known as the Irish Phoenix) The Augurey is native to Britain and Ireland. It looks somewhat like an underfed vulture in appearance. But it's feathers are dark green. It is very shy, and nests in bramble, but has been known to also nest in thorn. The Augurey has a deep cry, which was once believed to foretell death. But then patient research showed that the Augurey sings merely when there will soon be rain. Do not attempt to use one of their feathers as a quill, for it repels ink.

(The Augurey is a beast in the world of Harry Potter.)
I heard a cry of an Augurey, and thought I was then dead.
