Popularized by the MMOFPS game Planetside 2. "Warpgate parties" may occur after one of the factions' players have won an alert. An alert requires the players of every faction to capture as much territory or key objectives as possible on the continents in order to obtain high experience rewards for their whole faction. Warpgates are the home bases that cannot be attacked by enemy factions, thus they provide excellent conditions for taking a break from the battle. Hence, warpgate parties are mass-gatherings of one factions' players to celebrate an alert victory.

In a more negative way, warpgate parties also reflect a behavior where said individual(s) stop fighting after achieving a victory, leaving some of their territory unguarded and prone to be recaptured by enemy forces again. Said differently, "having a warpgate party" is a synonym for resting on one's laurels.
Vanu player 1: "Hey, where did all of the TR go?"
Vanu player 2: "I don't know. Maybe, they're having a warpgate party."
Vanu player 1: "Very dumb move! Look, we're about to recap all their territory!"

Robert: "Yes, I'm having a date with Lisa! Finally! That means to hell with studying for tomorrow's exam."
Jack: "Wait, no need to throw a warpgate party now! I would postpone your date to the weekend and study tonight, if I were you."
Robert: "Mhh, I guess you're right. I haven't thought about that."

Mr. Furrado: "Good job, Mrs. Collins! That was an insightful study on human resources in a competitive business environment."
Mrs. Collins: "Thanks, Mr. Furrado. But I don't have time for a warpgate party yet. I have to finish this analyst report for next week."
Mr. Furrado: "Wha.. warpgate party...? Huh?"

Tyrone: "Whatup, ya warpgatin' around again, dude?"
Martin: "Yea, man. I'm through with the assignment for Mrs. Garritt's class. But I don't want to start math homework now."
Tyrone: "Way to give a warpgate partey, dawg."
Martin: "Straight up."
Tyrone: "Worrd."
