Shelfwarmer

A toy at a store that kids don't want (usually the toy of a sidekick, disliked character or female character, etc) that remains on shelves for months on end after all of the "cool" figures have been sold. Based off of the term benchwarmer

Toy Collector A: Hey, have you seen ROTF Sideswipe lately?
Toy Collector B: Ugh, no, our Target's packed with nothing but shelfwarmers like Arcee and Wheelie.

The unwanted toys at a retail outlet.

Man I wanted a Marvel Universe Blade figure but all they had were shelf warmer Spidermans.

shelfware

Software that you bought and no longer use because you didn't need it in the first place. Also caused when software doesn't work with the latest operating system or is no longer supported by the original creator.

Half of our software is now shelfware after we upgraded our workstations to Vista.
