Pattification

The process in which someone drives themselves or others absolutely crazy for no obvious reason. Process herein means that a person(s) will spend an extraordinary amount of time laboring over something that would typically take minutes; however, in the end you will be left making statements such as, “Oh that is better” or “You were right”. The extension of perfection. The art of taking normal and sometimes lackluster materials and adding both artistic touches and eloquent language to bolster the appearance and presentation of written documents, presentations, and displays.

Steven put his presentation through the process of pattification with the hopes that his eloquent language would convince management to approve his request.

The use of TVs, DVDs, video games, etc. as tools to keep children quiet or to act as technological babysitters, thereby obviating the need for and stunting the development of interpersonal skills, human interaction, personal creativity and imagination.

We chose not to order the DVD player for our vehicle because we don't believe in video pacification.

The act of speaking out for the purpose of hearing onself speak.
Posturing...speaking to people that don't really care what you say one way or another since you're speaking solely to front yourself as "someone in charge".
Speech or written communication that is generally pointless except to cast favorable light upon the speaker or author as if the message were a pronouncement from on high.
Usually full of shit.
