When you sweet talk your student that fear, frustration, and failure are part of mathematical problem solving—that he shouldn't give up after the first, second, or even third unsuccessful attempt in solving a math problem.

Because mathophobia is more often a psychological rather than a logical problem, some mathematical pep talk by parents would go some way in restoring the self-confidence of their kids.
