Originated by South Africa's Cape Coloureds. Used to describe anything – particularly clothing and marijuana – of inferior quality.

"I bought me a paar majat Levi for ten rand there by the Grand Parade."

"Shit bru, this dope is majat."

"That Nickelback concert was majat!"

One who isn't fun to be around and a bit weird; loser, weirdo.
