Alternate name for the Australian National Broadband Network (also known as NBN).
Named after the serving Labor Prime Minister Kevin Rudd who announced the ambitious public-private partnership project during Labor's 2007 election campaign in opposition and their subsequent victory.
The network promises to deliver an open access Fibre To The Home (FTTH) network providing download speeds of 100 Megabits per second to 90% of Australian homes and businesses.
It will be the largest single infrastructure investment in Australia's history.
