dropping hairpins

To give hints that one is gay. Usually in the act of determining whether or not a person is safe to come out to. Also to see if an object of desire is also gay.

When I was talking with Jim, I dropped a couple hairpins, but I don't think he picked up on them.

Not only does my hairapist provide me with great advice for life but I always leave with a wonderful new hair-do, feeling great on the inside and out!

one who cuts hair for a living, and after many years of hearing it all, and providing advice, receives an honorary PHD in therapy.

Forget cosmetology, a cosmetologist, or barber......... a hairapist describes anyone who cuts hair and has heard it all, but also gives advice.

hairpin trigger

Really called a hair trigger. It's a modification made to a gun which makes it respond to very little pressure on the trigger. Allows for faster firing.

If you get a semi-auto chopper, you better put a hairpin trigger on it.

Hirpantesqutee

A catch-all term for things that are very similar to other things, but intentionally skewed in order to be recognizably based on something but different enough that if it was presented without context it would be unlikely to remind the viewer of the source material. It is similar to satire, or parody, but doesn't contain the connotation of mockery.
