Froudie or Froud is a term originating from Portishead, North Somerset. A Froud is a person who partakes in the mythological act of picking food off the pavement and eating it.

A generic term for fake audiences generally used in such television programmes as sitcoms and chat shows. Canned laughter is a product of said word.

I really wish Friends wouldn't use a fraudience... it detracts from the humor of the show.

A family of extremely intelligent, caring and thoughtful people, unlike any other known to mankind. A 'Froude' is a person who excels in all they do. As an adjective, 'froude' describes something of excellent quality and status. 'Froude' can be used as a verb also, meaning 'to achieve high standards'.
