1. A feeling of yearning for a time in the past, even though you may never have experienced that time yourself.

2. Thinking the past was better than it was, simply because your future hasn't turned out the way you wanted it to.

Fauxstack 

A false smokestack for aesthetic or advertising purposes. May not even resemble a real smokestack, except in the most abstract way (i.e. tall vertical structure).
Check out the fauxstacks on the new Guthrie. One of them even has a vertical marquee.

Feeling a false sense of nostalgia. When you feel nostalgic for something you never really liked.

Fauxstalgia 

Fauxstalgia is sometimes used by folks who weren't born at the time to hark back about their experiences in the second world war, or used to remember a thing that didn't even happen such as the world before migration.
