Any re-engagement of conversation, after an awkward pause, employing the word "So." Can be used in online chatting situations and the occasional face-to-face meeting.

After allowing a more-than-liberal amount of time for Jane to reply to his heart-exposing speech via chat window, and not certain whether or not she grasped the full gravity of his passion, John eased back into the conversation with a heavy, yet casual, ellipso. "So...," he said, closely watching the "last message sent at 1:30 a.m." get further and further into the past.

ellipsis abuse 

When someone repeatedly, indeed excessively, uses the ellipsis (...) in written text to give an impression of the flow of spoken conversation. Mostly just looks more artificial; usually indicates poor knowledge of internet etiquette on the part of an older generation. Commonly found by old people trying to communicate on Facebook.

Person 1: *insert humorous Facebook status obviously intended for appreciation by friends*
Person 2: *commenting* Hey... how is it going... just checking in... everything's good here... see you later.
Person 1: Wow. Not only did you hijack my status for an irrelevant personal conversation, but you employed serious ellipsis abuse. Thanks, dad.
Person 2: Don't forget the milk... can you call me when you get here... thanks... see you soon.

Ellipses Moment 

When you have an awkward moment with someone, and instead of saying "dot dot dot", like you would use in a text message, you call this moment an ellipses moment.

When a douche bag walked in the room, we all felt awkward and declared it was an ellipses moment.
