dreg 

Noun: A person who represents the lowest of the low - unemployed, unwashed, but not necessarily homeless, often invlved in petty crime; the guys you see dregging around downtown as they continue their drunk from the night before while you're on your way to work; reprobates.

The verb "to dreg" describes dreg-like behaviour such as sleeping one off on a park bench or casing parked cars for easy break-ins.

"Jesus! Look at those dregs dregging around the parking lot."

Dreg 

(The dictionary definition) 1. The sediment in a liquid; lees. Often used in the plural. 2. The basest or least desirable portion. Often used in the plural: the dregs of humanity. 3. A small amount; a residue.

(The Slang Definition) 1. A word used to describe someone who is less than desirable in the eyes of common society. See also outcast.

tofu dreg 

Chinese slang for cheap, shoddy, unsafe, or otherwise inadequate construction. Tofu dreg projects are relatively common in China due to poor building materials, corrupt government inspectors, overly ambitious building schedules, and a lack of care from builders. Features of tofu dreg projects include leaking pipes in new buildings, to no water at all in fire suppression systems, sinkholes, partial to total collapse of buildings. In some cases, concrete and masonry can be destroyed with bare hands, steel rebar can be broken with a few taps on a hard surface.

Many buildings collapsed during the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake that wouldn't have otherwise, had they not been Tofu Dreg constrution.

DREG 

The act of removing a student from a college class in the DataTel system used by many higher educational institutions. It is the four letter code for performing such a purge act within the system. Administrators and students are using this terminology. Pronounced as "de-reg".

If you do not pay for your classes the system will DREG you from them.

I was DREGed from my classes for non-payment.

The system will be DREGing students on Monday for non-payment of classes.
