Call-Forward

A common stand-up comedian technique where a subject is casually mentioned in a story that they will build upon in a later bit. Call-forwards are used to transition from a subject to a seemingly unrelated subject by dropping subtle references so that the subject being switched to does not seem out of place.

The opposite of a Call-Back
"When ever Bill Burr does a Call-Forward statement about the elderly I know that I am about to hear a transition to a joke about old people dying"

"Son, as much as we appreciate your knowledge of urban diction. It's probably the last thing your grandfather wants to hear on his deathbed."
