b) term meant to be used as an insult.

a) Tony= "Man I fucking hate being a dish rat at the local pub. It's shit pay, and I come home smelling like shit"

pet rat

"Rattus norvegicus", a type of rats which people keep as pets. They're mostly seen by society as gross, but they're one of the cleanest and smartest rodents. The most important thing about them is that they're very affectionate and they will love you with their whole hearts if you treat them right.
Rats should be kept in a BIG cage and they need at least one cagemate, because they're very social animals.
