Coined: (Probably) no earlier than 2003 and no later than 2006, SoCal, USA.

Backstory: A combination of "homey" (or a variant) and Pemba, the name of an (ancient?) city in Africa.

Pronunciation: home-PEM-ba

Plural: homepembas. (Obviously, multiple people each considered a homepemba.)

Definition: A synonym to homie/homey/homeboy/homegirl, etc. Used casually, in a friendly, non-insulting fashion, for members of either sex.
