An aesthetic popular in, but not exclusive to, video games from the mid 2000s. Characterized by brooding, gun-toting protagonists with morals that are loose at best and liberal use of black, gray, and red. Examples include The Darkness, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Hatred.
"I just played a game about a grim, amoral antihero who brutally guns down his foes in a black and gray world colored only by splatters of blood. It was truly school shooter chic."
