Games like League of Legends specifically have you make a build using different items in the shop, someone who would make various types of combinations to find the optimal setup would be considered one.

People who are classified as this are usually documenting their findings on some sort of spreadsheet or notepad, which is the real distinguishing factor when finding a scientist at work.
