The term "furry" is often used in a negative way to describe someone who is interested in anthropomorphic animals, or animals with human characteristics. This can include people who dress up in furry costumes, create furry art, or write furry stories.
People who use the term "furry" in a negative way often do so because they believe that furries are strange, weird, or even perverted. They may also believe that furries are sexually attracted to animals, which is true for a portion of the community, another bad portion of a furry community are pedophiles, people attracted to minors, however these portions are not all of the community. A large portion of the community have fetishes.
some Anti-furries believe that 1 in 5 furries are zoophiles which is not proven correct nor wrong.

Get the Furrymug. What exactly is a furry? This is quite often debated on the internet. Some say that furries are those who go to furcons, wear fursuits, etc. Others claim that even showing a slight interest in anthro makes you a furry.
In my personal opinion, furries are simply those who like anthropomorphic animals and have a fursona(s) of some sort. Some of them may take it further as to participate in furry events and / or wear suits known as fursuits, costumes worn by furries of their fursonas.
A very small percentage of the furry community takes it to extremes, making NSFW furry art and making it very well known that they wish to, well...have some sexy times in the zoo exhibits. This part of the community, however, is the stereotype for furries, and most of the community is depicted as a disgusting hub of demons who sit on the computer all day and draw NSFW Undertale art. That's a big oof from me.
