Back when blacks were enslaved, nigger wasn’t a controversial racial slur, it was a word similar to idiot meaning “lazy and ignorant” whenever a slave didn’t do enough work to satisfy his master, the master often called him nigger. Now nigger is used a a racial slur against African Americans, but blacks people use it in place of the word “bro”
