ornerythologist

A cranky researcher who find the study of birds to be insanely tedious.
In the September 5, 1981 Doonesbury comic strip, former US Secretary of the Interior James Watt is shown to be a classic example of an ornerythologist, in that he doesn't see the difference between endangered species of birds and the super-plentiful pigeons --- "Birds are birds, I say. That's what I mean by extremism!"

OrneryFans

(n.) Online commentators who criticize female content creators, especially on platforms like OnlyFans, while frequently engaging with their content, unaware of the contradiction with their claimed support for women's choice and liberation.
OrneryFans slammed her OnlyFans posts but kept commenting, boosting her visibility despite their disapproval.

Blend of "ornery" (irritable) and "fans" (ironic obsession with criticized content). Coined in 2025.

ornerary member

Someone who doesn't technically qualify as a fellow crony, but whom da members allow to tag along anyway due to his cranky persistence in his efforts to join said group.
Walter is such a grouch dat one wonders how he ever managed to become part of Jeff Dunham's show; perhaps Jeff made him an ornerary member rather than listen to his whiny complaining about feeling left out.
