The idea that the universe is permeated by a subtle, vital energy or life force that can be harnessed, directed, or depleted by living beings, objects, or rituals. Often drawn from Polynesian and fantasy concepts, this hypothesis posits "mana" as a quantifiable yet non-physical resource that powers magic, exceptional skill, spiritual presence, or extraordinary luck. It's the speculative fuel for systems where will and ritual can produce effects, suggesting reality has a hidden battery that some people or places are better at tapping into than others.

Example: "After pulling three all-nighters to finish the project, I was running on pure caffeine and desperation. My coworker said, 'You've drained all your mana.' He was invoking the Mana Hypothesis—the idea that my focus and creative juice were a finite, mystical resource I'd burned through. His solution? A 'mana potion' (a green smoothie) and a visit to the 'recharge site' (the park) to tap back into the ambient life-force energy of nature."
