Get the Ogseggsual mug.Beyond the shadow of a doubt, the education of an art student is drastically different than a humanities, social sciences or sciences major. While traditional universities prompt the student to summarise their readings and their theoretical knowledge, art students solely take inspiration from theories and ideas and are almost entirely focused on creating something 'new'. The quote by John Baldessari describing what art students do in art school could be used to support this point:"We had no curriculum, In other words, you chose from a menu and made up your own dishes."(Taken from Mônica Hoff) Moving on, Turkish language has 1 word which is applicable to all students from all universities: öğrenci. Öğrenci's exact translation is "student", the word's root is the noun "ög" which roughly translates to knowledge. Adding -ren to the world makes it "Öğren" which means "To learn". Furthermore, the -ci is an affix which gives the word the meaning of 'someone who does the learning'. To achieve this, the Turkish verb for make: "Yap" is combined with the word student:"Öğrenci". While still containing the meanings of "Öğren", the -en is turned into -ap, giving it the meaning of 'making'. The -ci affix is then added to give the meaning of 'someone' who does the learning and the making; hence resulting in a more fitting term to describe art students: "Öğrapçı".
Öğrapçılar sanat okulundan ayrıldı.
Translation: The Öğrapçı's left the art school.
Further translation: The people who learn and make left the art school.
