Cubling

In Wendy and Richard Pini’s “Elfquest” a cubling is an affectionate term for a very young elf.

Singular: Cubling.

Plural: Cublings.

Older children are referred to as cubs as well.
“Mother!” Suntop embraces Leetah after having been away for a whole turn of the seasons, “My eyes see with joy! My hands touch with joy!”
“My hands also touch with joy!” Leetah holds her little son out at arn’s length, “My eyes, too, see with joy! How tall you’ve become! Where has my little Suntop gone to be replaced by this beautiful boy? Soon I won’t be able to call you or your sister cubling anymore...”
“We’ll always be your Cublings, Mother,” Suntop grinned, “You know that!”
