Agoraphorēsia

Agoraphorēsia is the intense feeling of self-awareness and amplified individuality that kicks in when you’re in public space—like a square, stage, or crowded street—where the world suddenly feels like an audience. It’s not fear, and it’s not just confidence; it’s the sensation of being fully exposed, vividly present, and almost painfully yourself in public.
From Greek ἀγορά (“public square”) and φόρεσις (“bearing, carrying”), indicating the “carried” or amplified experience of the self within public space.
Introduced by Ventsislav Arnaoudov.
She walked into the crowded plaza and suddenly felt like the main character. Not anxiety—just pure agoraphorēsia.
